Workshop: Beat a Situationist. At his own game.

On September 25, together with walk · listen · create, Cona, and Pro Arts, we are hosting a full day hybrid workshop called Beat a Situationist. At his own Game.

With this workshop, we’re rekindling our cooperation with Pro Arts, in Oakland, with whom we last worked together in 2017. This will also be the first dérive app workshop since the start of the COVID, our most recent previous workshop seeing the light of day in the Azores.

We are working together with walk · listen · create, the home of walking artists and artist walkers, and Cona, a collaborative platform based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, which creates and promotes contemporary art works in relation to society, technology, environment, space and sound.

Beat a Situationist… is organised as part of Sound Walk City · prelude, lead by Cona. Sound Walk City, in turn, is a component of the broader Sound Walk September, hosted by walk · listen · create. Sound Walk September is the yearly festival with a focus on walking art in general, and sound walking art in particular.

This full day workshop will both be online and offline. You can participate wherever you are in the world. But, if you happen to be in, or close to, Ljubljana, or Oakland, you can also participate in-person.

The workshop will consist of a number of presentations, with speakers from around the world, on the use and abuse of public space in modern society.

And, the workshop will center on an extensive hands-on experience, where participants will explore their own urban space, and will collectively and collaboratively create a set of task cards, walking prompts, to explore urban space together.
