Ann de Forest hosts Walking America – writers in conversation. Practitioners and teachers of writings on walking, the guests include, Christine Hume, co-editor of Traversals: A Folio on Walking for The Hopkins Review, and two contributing writers, Nabil Kashyap and Will Zhang.

We are excited to have Ellen Mueller as our guest for this Cafe. For the last few years, she has been compiling a comprehensive resource on walking art and sharing it through her blog and through her own teaching resources.

Natalia Mount and Chris Byrnes lead a conversation about their collaborative project Performing Pro Arts COMMONS and what it means to occupy intellectual property through a sound walk or an open source application, such as the Dérive app.

Authors of audio papers are invited, along with creators of sound walks for Walking as a Question, to share their thoughts and experiences about their works and this innovative practice of walking, writing and listening.

Bob Parks‘ artistic process goes back to the 1960s, when he developed a self abandonment from John Cage‘s work in indeterminacy, where aspects of a musical work are left open to chance, or to the interpreter’s free choice. The persona Bob developed based on these first experiences, and later augmentations, he has come to identify as Bignose.
