The convergence of Performance Art and Walking Art as a quantum experience

Putting it another way – the convergence of Performance Art and Walking Art is a quantum experience. What I ,mean by that is at an ideas-level all sorts of new relationships become possible. What I see at present in Walking Art is essentially the same idea reinterpreted in multiple scenarios but ,at a creative level, with no originality…which has got nothing to do with Art but a lot to do with closing things down (rather than working to opening them up) in order to make it into a product and from that apply for grants etc and what’s worse sometimes actually getting them – totally unearned). So it becomes about money rather than creativity.

Quantum-wise there are three quarks in heavy particles but we don’t know how many quarks there are, and with funny names, so when multiple quarks come in it produces a profound change. Then you have anti-particles because you get light particles not made up of quarks…electrons made of negative and positrons with positive energies – when they come together produce things like photons and neutrinos. That’s about as much as I can follow. My connection with Performance Art and where and how it originated in the mid-60’s (although Johannes Baader and – can’t think of her name right now The Baroness and she was German – but they were both going full throttle at the turn of the last century) was with sound, and the Vedic Scriptures (which teaches that at an electron level sound atoms comprise form and through a mantra and in a tantric trance we can create form through sound)…iust too long a story to go into right now but this was the essentially the genesis of what I did back then which became to be known as Performance Art. To reiterate my definition of it is that literally anything can happen and its transition into Walking Art is putting that ‘anything’ into motion. If you compare the individual with a canvas, and then its application as consciousness (as the canvas), then that, on the move, in terms of Quantum Art is – as by a move into quantum – Pollock’s Literalism – where everything becomes Art (but everything from the perspective of the individual – not the individual moving into the everything of everybody else which is what Walking Art implies. It stems from the idea that Marilyn Fergason popularised in The Aquarian Conspiracy in the 70’s of paradigm shifts).

In the 60's I developed a self abandonment from John Cage's Indeterminacy album. This involved making as much noise as would come out of my mouth while moving my body as violently as it would go. I got it up to about 14 minutes. I later identified this per...

We welcome back Bob Parks. Bob was one of the pioneers of performance art in England in the 1960s, and on the US West Coast in the 1970s, and eventually has seen his practice evolve into a mixture of performance and walking art, subscribing to the idea that Walking Art is Performance Art on wheels, with the capacity to bring in the whole world's population.
