Mary Marinopoulou is communications manager of WALC, Walking Art & Local Communities, the project funded by Creative Europe, which WLC is also participating in. She’s inviting you to join us.
Are you passionate about building connections, inspiring communities, and exploring innovative practices? At WALC, we are inviting collectives, organizations, and venues to become NODES, key contributors to a growing network focused on walking arts and community-based issues.
What Does It Mean to Be a NODE?
As a NODE, you will organize activities in your local area while connecting with an international community of artists, researchers, and changemakers working together to foster social, cultural, and ecological transformation.
Here at WALC, we are creating an International Center for Artistic Research and Practice in Walking Art, with a central hub in Prespa, Greece, and regional hubs across Europe. By becoming a NODE, you help expand this vision, share knowledge, allow us to learn from you, and spark meaningful conversations about how walking art can contribute to care, innovation, and sustainability within communities.
Why Join Us?
We’re looking to exchange ideas, develop creative practices, and strengthen connections between local and global communities. As a NODE, you will gain access to:
- Online events and training sessions.
- A platform to share your activities.
- Participation in WALC’s global promotion, including being featured in a full-length documentary that will document the global impact of WALC.
- Opportunities to organize local exhibitions connected to our final exhibition in 2027.
Who Can Apply?
We are looking for organizations and informal collectives already making an impact in their communities. You don’t need to specialize in walking arts—this call is open to diverse fields such as arts, social practices, wellbeing, education, sustainable tourism, technology, science, and ecology.
While we prioritize NODES from EU countries beyond our current partner countries (Greece, Spain, Portugal, France, and Belgium), we welcome applications from all regions, inside and outside of Europe.
Key Dates and How to Apply
This is an ongoing call, with the first deadline for proposals on February 28, 2025. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for a video interview in early March.
Read more about the NODES on our website.
When you’re ready to connect, collaborate, and inspire, submit your application here.

Let’s walk together toward a more creative and connected future!

Walking Arts & Local Communities (WALC) is an artistic cooperation project, co-funded by the European Union, Creative Europe, starting in January 2024 for four years. With seven partners from five countries, WALC establishes an International Center for Artistic Research and Practice of Walking Arts, in Prespa, Greece, at the border with Albania and North Macedonia, backed up by an online counterpart in the format of a digital platform for walking arts.
WALC builds on the previous work of hundreds of artists and researchers already practicing Walking Arts as a collaborative medium, and having met at the significant previous walking arts events and encounters in Greece, Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, and during online activities at walk · listen · create.
