Filippos Kalamaras has the post of Assistant Proffessor at the Department of Visual and applied Arts, School of Fine Arts, University of Western Macedonia. He has a Sculpture degree from Loughborough University School of Art and Design in England and a Msc in Contemporary Art & Art Theory from Edinburgh College of Art, Edinburgh University, Scotland. He is a Phd Candidate with research subject “Contemporary Art Practices & Materials and their influence in sculpture and Functional Art Objects”. His research field and artistic interest revolves around the study of the human figure and the volume it occupies in space, the “materiality” of the artwork, Functional Art Objects and digital applications in Art. Works of his are placed in public spaces, belong in private collections and his sculpture “Aggeliki”, 2013, belongs to the art collection of the President of Hellenic Democracy. He has solo exhibitions, participation in public and private symposiums and participations in numerous group exhibitions in Greece and abroad.
