Jordan is a PhD student in music theory and graduate teaching assistant at Florida State University. An avid walker for recreational as well as intellectual and spiritual purposes, his interests inside and outside academe include experimental musics and sounding arts, just intonation and extended just intonation, hegemony and counter-hegemony, and theoretical philosophy. His dissertation considers listeners’ experiences of a cappella vocal musics as sound using Sardinian cuncordu, Bulgarian women’s diaphony, and works by Toby Twining and Michael Harrison as case studies at the intersection of theoretical and ethnographic methods. Beyond walking and thinking, in his spare time Jordan enjoys creating experimental sound and video art, riding his external bicycle, and consuming and generating teloi.
