Julian Hoffman is a writer and naturalist living beside the Prespa lakes in northern Greece. Much of his work explores the relationships between humans and the natural world, alongside the cultures and communities of place, and is a blend of nature, travel, history and landscape. Issues concerning borders, climate, biodiversity, conservation and Indigenous land rights and languages are also of central importance. HIs most recent book, Lifelines: Searching for Home in the Mountains of Greece, was published in May 2025. Earlier books include Irreplaceable: The Fight to Save our Wild Places and The Small Heart of Things. He moved to the Prespa region with his wife, Julia, in the summer of 2000.
