Laura Holzman’s work activates art, its history, and its institutions to strengthen communities, expand democratic discourse, and build a more equitable, sustainable, and critically reflective world. She is the author of Contested Image: Defining Philadelphia for the 21st Century (2019), as well as essays in outlets ranging from academic volumes to Newsweek Japan. She regularly collaborates with artists, students, community groups, and other partners to develop exhibits, artwork, and public programs.

Since 2012 she has been a professor and public scholar at Indiana University Indianapolis (USA), where she teaches art history and museum studies. She is currently working on a project about walking, vision, and sense of place.
