Simon Coleman is Chancellor Jackman Professor at the Department for the Study of Religion at the University of Toronto. An anthropologist, Simon has been carrying out fieldwork at Walsingham and other shrines in England since the 1990s. His latest book is Powers of Pilgrimage: Religion in a World of Movement (New York University Press, 2022). Simon teaches on the anthropology of walking as part of his undergraduate course ‘Pilgrimage as Idea and Practice’.
