OVERHEAR creates location-based audio experiences that invite listeners to explore their environments through poetry, stories, and oral histories. We digitally pin audio content to real-world locations using GPS, QR codes, and episodic pins for public transport, enabling artists and organisations to create immersive sound walks and walking tours. Our mobile app supports participatory arts projects, heritage trails, and community storytelling, working with festivals, cultural institutions, and community groups. Founded in 2019, we've collaborated with Writing West Midlands, Birmingham Literature Festival, and healthcare trusts to create experiences that uncover the symbiotic relationship between creative audio and location. We believe in walking as a form of literacy—learning the language of place through movement and sound, whether in parks, city streets, or heritage sites. OVERHEAR moves people in all senses of the word, taking them to new places and bringing new voices to them.
