Tim Brennan is an artist, writer, and peripatetic professor whose practice navigates the thresholds between ritual, inscription, and embodied fieldwork. Since the late 1980s, he has developed a polyvalent approach spanning performance, visual art, poetry, and publication, treating art as an act of invocation and relational attention.

In the early 1990s, Brennan initiated the manoeuvre — a guided-walk form that fused poetics, gesture, and site into a social choreography distinct from conventional walking art. His work has since been presented internationally, including at the 54th Venice Biennale, the British Museum, Centre Régional de la Photographie / FNAC Dunkirk, and the National Maritime Museum, with further collaborations shown at the Athens Digital Arts Festival and Primarolia Festival.

His books, photographs, and performance ephemera are held in major collections such as Printed Matter (New York), the Mass Observation Archive, the Stuart Hall Library, and the Live Art Development Agency, forming a dispersed archival presence that reflects the long resonance of his practice.

Brennan has taught widely across performance, visual art, writing, and curatorial studies, contributing to the development of groundbreaking programmes at Dartington College of Arts, Goldsmiths, and the University of Sunderland. He has held leadership and professorial roles in the UK and internationally.

Since 2024, he has worked independently as a Peripatetic Professor of Art, engaging learners and publics through mobile, dialogic, and critically generous pedagogies that reimagine teaching as an artistic manoeuvre.
