Victoria Evans is a contemporary artist with a background in the film and television industries. She graduated with a Masters Degree in Fine Art Practice (Sculpture) from Glasgow School of Art in 2015 and is currently conducting part-time SGSAH/AHRC funded, practice-based PhD research at Edinburgh College of Art. Victoria’s artwork has been exhibited widely in Scotland, and in England, Greece, Spain and Malta. Victoria’s writing has been published in peer reviewed journals and several online art platforms; she has been awarded grants, commissions and residencies from: Hospitalfield in Arbroath; SNEHTA in Athens; VACMA in Glasgow, Design Informatics in Edinburgh; Creative Informatics in Edinburgh, and LUX Scotland and BBC Arts (UK). Victoria was recently commissioned by the Xunta da Galicia to make work for a survey exhibition on movement in art, in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

Victoria’s Practice-based PhD research asks what alternative ways of knowing might become possible through attuning our senses to the world of sound. Engaging with science and philosophy, she works speculatively across a variety of media, including film, sound composition, creative writing, print and digital, to explore sound as a material, trans-corporeal agent of connection, that resonates across more-than-human scales, and whispers of invisible ecologies of perception.
