A Mis-Guide To Anywhere is a 120-page, full-colour book by Wrights & Sites in collaboration with visual artist Tony Weaver. Launched at London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts alongside four Mis-Guided Tours, the book presents a playful, utopian approach to walking and exploring, encouraging “reader-walkers” to make their own journeys in any environment—urban, rural, or imagined.

Drawing on three years of research and walks in locations including Shanghai, rural Zambia, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Manchester, Paris, and the island of Herm, the book uses disrupted walking strategies to recast familiar and unfamiliar spaces. It blends provocation, reflection, and practical inspiration, prompting readers to rethink the ordinary and the overlooked, and to approach places with curiosity and improvisation.

Funded by Arts Council England (Lottery Funded) and Dartington College of Arts, A Mis-Guide To Anywhere has been widely used in teaching across disciplines such as Performance Studies, Design, and Geography. Praised for its inventive approach, it has been described as “a replacement for the I Ching or as a script for the play of your life” and hailed as a guide that turns the act of walking into a performative, exploratory, and transformative experience.
