The Soundwalk | Exhibition takes place on the Hermannshof in Völksen, Springe, Germany and its immediate surroundings. It's a selfguided tour through the neighborhood with sound by SonicMaps.

This post features four audio tracks recorded during walking improvisations at the 2014 Coburg Samba Festival in Germany and Notting Hill Carnival in London. John Hicks and Gregory Cowan captured ambient and improvised sounds as they moved through festival spaces, interacting with participants and the local environment.

Steven M Halliday’s historical sound walk from Folkestone Harbour to Sandgate, Kent, retraces the 1891 shipwreck of the full-rigged Benvenue. The 25-minute experience combines 3D sound design, narration, and music to narrate the dramatic rescue events.

Huizkol is an audio paper designed for a 49-minute walk featuring seven sequential binaural beat “updrafts” that mimic different brainwave patterns, from deep sleep Delta waves to stimulating Beta waves and back. Premiered in Chicago in 2020, the piece explores brainwave entrainment and its effects on the body and mind through timed auditory stimulation aligned with the walk’s pacing.
