Walking Scores
Artists Noel Meek and Elliot Vaughan commissioned new walking performance scores by Aotearoa artists John Vea (Tonga), Louie Zalk-Neale (Ngāi te Rangi), Rob Thorne (Ngāti Tumutumu), Sonya Lacey, and Noel Meek. With performances every day of The Performance Arcade in Wellington, New Zealand in February 2024, Meek and Vaughan explored a rich and challenging artistic ecology showing walking’s potential as an aesthetic, social, and political action.
WALKING: THE CYPRUS EXPERIENCE (on Line Seminar/HUB)
Organized by Cut Contemporary Fine Arts Lab and coordinated by Dr. Gabriel Koureas, the International Hub explores the spatial and sensorial impacts of Cyprus’s divided borderlands through walking as an artistic and performative practice. The project investigates how physical and psychic borders, memory, and trauma are embedded in the urban fabric, using embodied encounters with the landscape to understand the interplay of war, politics, and social conditions in Cyprus.
Ver de ouvir ao caminhar
This project explores urban experience through multisensory walking practices inspired by Careri's "aesthetic of walking," Canevacci's "polyphony of urban communication," and Larrosa's philosophy of experience. Using binaural audio, it creates immersive soundscapes that map and narrate urban places via sensory memories and embodied interactions, emphasizing the full-body engagement inherent in navigating and inhabiting cities.
