During the spring lockdown in France, the artist conducted daily walks limited to one hour within a 1 km radius, creating routes based on drawings like flowers and snails. This process resulted in an archive of 64 drawings, two reflective texts, and a series of engravings exploring the neighborhood and urban changes under strict outing restrictions.
Lockdown stories of learning disabled artists transformed into sound walk by theatre company
A local East London theatre company has set up a free audio exhibition exploring the changes and challenges the learning disabled community have had to face during lockdown. Helen Bryer and Adam Smith co-directors of the 90-minute exhibition ‘Still here’ set up the immersive project back in September. The project is a sound walk
• Libraries as Gardens – sound walk in Athens
The National Garden of Athens hosts an interactive audio project featuring global participants sharing stories and readings about their favorite public gardens during the pandemic, accessible via a mobile webapp or desktop map. This evolving sound walk includes lockdown silence recordings and aims to create a geolocated audio archive of personal and public garden experiences before, during, and after COVID-19.
• The 42 walks of Contención Island
During the UK's COVID-19 lockdown, the author conducted daily 20-minute walks in all directions from their home, creating and mapping a fictional place called Contención Island through recorded sounds and poems over 42 days. This project combines walking, audio recordings, and poetic texts to explore a mapped imaginary island shaped by the paths of lockdown walks.
• Greenwich Sounds HiLo
The Greenwich Sounds Hi Lo sound walk, created by Andrew Stuck for the 2020 Greenwich Sound Image Festival, connects the highest point at Eaglefield Recreation Ground and the lowest point near Abbey Wood in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, primarily following the Green Chain path. Hosted on the Echoes.xyz app, the walk features geo-located conversations recorded during lockdown, with contributions from local residents and councilors, and can be accessed via nearby public transport and the View Ranger app.

The Ears May Travel came into existence spontaneously during the covid-19 pandemic in spring 2020. During lockdown I simply felt the urge to travel – at least in imagination. But it is not only a vacation for the senses. It is a commentary in a time when countries around the globe are closing their borders.
