After the Walk
Made of Walking Prosperpolder and the Future of Walking Arts TThe expression walking arts has become surprisingly familiar. Over the past two decades, it has entered conferences, publications, festivals, university programmes and European projects, bringing together practices that had previously remained dispersed across different artistic and disciplinary traditions.Yet the more familiar the expression has become,
• Water, Earth, and Peace: Coming home to where we come from
Walking in transitional, interstitial spaces where Water and Earth meet is special. From walking-with and sensing the presence of rock and water bodies, on the banks of Lake Prespa (Greece) or the River Maas (Holland), it emerges to feel Water as home and relational peace quality, which inspires humans to create. To co-create and find forms for joint walking, artistic work, and ecosomatic practice, as ways of storytelling with Earth & Water.

Made of Walking Returns to Belgium
After travelling around the globe, Made of Walking returns to Belgium, in Prosperpolder. Belgium provides a fitting place for this return. Situated at the crossroads of Europe, Prosperpolder embodies many of the questions that Made of Walking has explored over the past decade: borders and flows, ecology and industry, heritage and transformation, local communities and planetary processes. It is a landscape where the future of walking arts emerges through encounters between people, places and more-than-human worlds.

Thinking in Motion
This talk introduces WALKING, a symposium exploring practices of walking as modes of perception, spatial inquiry, and collective reflection. Situated in relation to Lucius Burckhardt’s Spaziergangswissenschaft, WALKING brings together positions from landscape architecture, art, research, and curatorial practice to examine how environments are read, constructed, and contested through movement.
