The Mourning After: Duration’s Wisdom II
Duration’s Wisdom II is a meditative walking performance on a 20-ft canvas, depicting the final stage of mourning. Using circular, continuous movements, Erika Knerr processed grief, revisiting loss and reflection, performed in Zaragoza, Spain after the Madrid attacks.
Shoes for Departure
Shoes for Departure is part of Marina Abramović’s Transitional Objects series, exploring the use of crystals and minerals in interactive objects as emotional or symbolic transitions. The work connects walking, departure, and psychological journey, reflecting her focus on the body’s limits, transformation, and personal rituals.
Free Range Trials
Free Range Trials is a creative lab showcasing experiments by Kathy McTavish and Cecilia Ramon, exploring culture, land, and agriculture. Ramon's work uses drawings, projections, and earthworks to trace ocean currents and aquatic life, including her installation Oceangrass.
Walking pieces
Empirical Evidence of the Existence of Angels
During lockdown I kept an 11‑day/11‑hour diary of feathers, thoughts and small wonders while beginning addiction recovery and my art practice. Originally 11 watercolour-word pieces, now an audio-visual “anti‑guided meditation” for creative self‑observation.
DOLL CHAIN
To investigate symbols of connection and to question performance art as a form of peaceful protest, IGUANA Collaborative performed DOLL CHAIN in Art in Odd Places: Dress festival, with 6 walkers, wearing identical robes connected at the sleeves. We chose two fabrics named “safety orange” for the robe and “flame” for the pants to explore how high-visibility orange represents protection in contemporary society and elevates a sense of caution or importance around one body.
Geopoetic crossing
Philosopher Frederic Gros highlights walking as a means to slow down and engage deeper perception through rhythm and contemplation. This sound piece, created from landscape sounds, invites listeners to experience a meditative shift in awareness, whether walking or resting.
