Rowlett’s Landscape Painting in the Expanded Field turns his body into a mobile studio. Wearing a backpack of hinged canvases, he walks through landscapes where light, shadows, and natural forces mark the surfaces, blending painting, performance, and environment.
Colour charts
The Colour Charts are created during colour walks where the artist collects pigments—gravel, dirt, dust, and bird droppings—from overlooked city places. Using watercolor, these collected traces form charts, mapping the city through experimental exploration.
The Green Line
In the summer of 1995 I performed a walk with a leaking can of blue paint in the city of São Paulo. The walk was then read as a poetic gesture of sorts. In June 2004, I re-enacted that same performance with a leaking can of green paint by tracing a line following the portion of the ‘Green Line’ that runs through the municipality of Jerusalem.
