In A Common Third, Simon Pope explores walking as a collaborative, intellectual, and social process. Inviting guests to navigate unfamiliar terrains together, Pope investigates how shared decisions, landscapes, and cultural practices shape both the journey and the experience of being together.

LISTEN by Max Neuhaus is a pioneering soundwalk in Manhattan, transforming ambient city sounds into an artistic, immersive experience that highlights the spatial, social, and perceptual dimensions of listening.

Four works used repeatedly walked routes to map out imaginary islands. These were mapped cartographically and with sound and poetry. I am currently creating another two imagined islands.

iAmbic Pedometer is an iPhone video of Brennan walking through Sunderland, mixing ambient sound with murmured, poetic utterances. Drawing on Wordsworth, Schwitters, and the idea of the ur, it links language’s sonic origins to the rhythm of walking.

Drift is a site-specific GPS-based sound installation exploring wandering, disorientation, and the limits of GPS. Visitors traverse a shifting 2 km² space of sand, sea, and interactive sounds, where footsteps, spoken word, and tides create a playful, unpredictable experience of place.

Session is a video triptych filmed in Sharjah where natural elements play regional percussion instruments. It explores socio-spatial textures and cultural identity, inviting viewers to navigate their environment as voyagers and cartographers.

A 2 km walk along Cape Jourimain’s Lighthouse Trail during the 2008 Eco‑Arts Festival explored life at the lighthouse, using audio fragments to evoke isolation, hardships, pleasures, and memories of four generations who lived there.

Hillclimbing is a video by Cardiff and Miller showing their ascent of a snow-covered hill. Filmed from Miller’s perspective, with sounds of footsteps, breaths, and their dog, the looped work never reaches the summit, emphasizing effort and repetition.

Guide to Getting Lost by Jennie Savage is a 30-min audio walk inviting participants to explore familiar spaces differently, blending real and fictional sounds. Walkers interpret directions uniquely, navigate at their own pace, and choose how closely to follow the guide.

It Takes a Year to Walk Around the Sun is a looped moving-image installation using a floor-projected, rhythmic, disorienting video to evoke physical and psychological immersion. It developed from a year-long performative Instagram project.
