Over eighty international presenters will contribute a diverse range of insights across peer reviewed presentations, workshops, sound and video works. Topics including acoustic witnessing, technology and ethics, critical fieldcraft, multi-sensory listening, memory, archives and more will forge unique and timely interventions into the changing methods, aesthetics and debates that infuse the field. Walled Ground, a Free Zone for Seedlings / a path is made by walking
Since 2016, Hans van Lunteren and Ienke Kastelein have led monthly silent walks along a former prison wall in Utrecht to observe plant growth and explore the tension between control and natural development. Their ongoing project, Walled Ground, aims to create a permanent Free Zone for Seedlings, symbolizing ecological balance and freedom within an urban, controlled environment.
The Ears May Travel
The Ears May Travel came into existence spontaneously during the covid-19 pandemic in spring 2020. During lockdown I simply felt the urge to travel – at least in imagination. But it is not only a vacation for the senses. It is a commentary in a time when countries around the globe are closing their borders.
London Street Noises
This is the 2019 event. Similar events are scheduled in 2020, for September 17 and September 20. In September of 1928 five locations across central London were recorded by a team from Columbia Records led by Commander Daniel and supported by the Daily Mail. Trans-Missions and Resonant Encounters: composing the non-human body
Jussi Parikka’s *Insect Media* conceptualizes media as embodied, non-human forms that converge natural and constructed worlds through resonant milieus rather than binary oppositions. Building on this, an audio walk explores inhabiting these resonant spaces using psychoacoustic techniques to blur boundaries between music, field recordings, and sound art, challenging traditional modes of perception and bodily experience.
Búðahraun
This work investigates distance, time, movement, and place through replicated walks across the Búðahraun lava field in Iceland, captured via field recording and sound design. Originally broadcast on Resonance Extra’s Flux, it explores liminal spaces and temporality by contrasting walks at dawn and dusk on the summer solstice, integrating natural sounds and embodied movement into a sonic portrait of the landscape.

Audio Walking: An Introduction to Recording, Producing and Editing skills
Three fascinating workshops shifting from an introduction to audio field recording for audio-walks and soundscapes, through to actual field recording and then editing. We will make a work in prgress and communicate with a group of artists working on a similar workshop series in Sweden with Andrew Stuck. We will hope to produce a work in progress to share!
