Through the process of dérive we will wander through the city looking for compelling pieces of text which complement or are in conflict with each other either aesthetically or thematically. A workshop with Daniel Beerstecher (D). He will teach practices of mindful walking in public spaces and give introductions to the meditative slow-walk, which is based on Zen Buddhist walking meditation.

In this workshop, we will experiment with a virtual walk along streets and alleys, stairs, squares, gardens, and historical buildings in Mouraria’s neighbourhood (Lisbon). Walking, we will get to know residents and community networks, witness gentrification processes and city tourism, and explore services, commerce, multicultural exchanges and social gatherings. From Ukraine, Sasha Kurmaz will talk about his artistic practice, about his projects in the public space and about the impact of the war on the Ukrainian landscape and his city Kyiv, as well discuss how to be an artist during the war.

Artists Cândida Borges (Brazil/US) and Gabriel Mario Vélez (Colombia) discusses how walkscapes informed their transmedia work Derive 01, by exploring the theme of transculturalism through 4 continents in virtual reality and 360 technologies for sound and audio.

a transformative conversation about what happens when Black Joy is found in Green Spaces. Please join Chris Omni, and five Black Queens and Kings, as we discuss the topic of "Slow Movements."

Indian city dweller Samprati Pani draws on her walking practices as an anthropologist interested in the making of public places in the city. Through an ethnography of walking practices performed in the bazaars of Delhi, the talk will illustrate how walking in the bazaar, even for a solitary walker, is a social activity because its rhythm and pace is continuously modulated in relation to others and the materiality of the place.

Sylvia Molina (Sweden/Spain) discusses 40 ARK|40DAYS, her sound-visual project based on the walk and drift through the  city of Stockholm. Every day, the journey traveled is stitched (Black Notebook)  thus building the score on which the rest of the project will be built.  

Why not slow down? The German artist Daniel Beerstecher performed the first slow-walk marathon in history at the Walk in Time performance. Daniel Beerstecher will speak about this extensive and extremely demanding performance and his aim to create new interpretive spaces and, in a certain sense, to put the "world order" to the test.
