30 Days of Walking: Sound Walk September 2020

We are creating a collaborative sound walk. You are invited to participate in a project involving scores or participants, with the aim of creating a 30-day sound walk.
Grafton Lakes State Park Soundwalk
September 26th 3-4pm (EST) at Soundwalk at Grafton Lakes State Park Come join sound artist, Andrea Williams, on a soundwalk: a meditative walk that will focus upon listening to our environment. When we one starts to prioritize listening over seeing and instead of rushing to get oneself from Point A to Point B, we begin to sense more of what is directly around us. We even feel our other senses engage more intensely, such as touch and smell, and it becomes easier to appreciate the surrounding environment. There are a few listening activities along the way, but participants should be comfortable with being silent for most of the soundwalk with cell phones on silent or airplane mode. Portions of the trail may be muddy depending on weather; closed toed, watertight shoes are recommended along with bringing water to drink. We will be practicing social distancing of at least 6 ft plus wearing masks. This soundwalk is limited to 6 participants.
Location: Meet at the Grafton Lakes State Park Welcome Center, 254 Grafton Lakes State Park Way, Cropseyville, NY 12052.
