Jim Leary is an archaeologist and lecturer at the University of York, and previously held posts at Reading University and English Heritage. His main research interest is mobility and understanding how people moved around in the past, and is currently writing a book about the archaeology of moving in the past, called 'Roam', which takes us from the footsteps of early hunter-gatherers preserved in mud to ancient trackways hollowed by time, and from drovers and pilgrims, to long-distance travel and migration. Other interests include responses to climate change and sea-level rise in the past, and understanding Neolithic society and the construction of monuments.
