Bitterzoete Route (Bittersweet Route)
The Bitterzoete Route in Utrecht’s Lombok neighborhood highlights streets named after Dutch Golden Age figures, including J.P. Coen, whose legacy involves both leadership and crimes in the Dutch East Indies. This walking route aims to increase awareness of the Dutch colonial past by presenting the complex histories behind these street names.
