Walking a liminal line
Terminalia, celebrated on February 23rd, is an ancient Roman festival honoring Terminus, the god of boundaries, marked by sacrifices at boundary stones instituted by King Numa Pompilius. This practice evolved into the English custom of Beating the Bounds and inspires contemporary boundary walks, such as the author’s 2020 walk along the sea-land boundary in Skagaströnd, Iceland.

This collaborative walking art project features a live multi-channel sound and movement installation based on simultaneous remote walks across global cities, translating these into a layered performance space in Athens. Drawing on soundscape storytelling, movement, and historical-philosophical references, it explores urban memory and social inclusion through collective dérives and sonic localization aligned with the tradition of Plato’s Academy.
