Silueta Series
Ana Mendieta’s Silueta Series (1973–1980) used her body or its imprint in nature, blending performance, land art, and photography to explore exile, identity, spirituality, and ephemerality, creating enduring, feminist, and postcolonial earth-body works.
Los Pasos de Mama Killa (The Steps of Mother Killa)
The soundwalk “Los Pasos de Mama Killa” (The Steps of Mama Killa) explores the collective meaning of agency at night, presenting the nighttime as a communal and relational space grounded in mutual care. The sound design was developed using sound-augmented reality on the ECHOES platform. This work was created for the Sur Aural Sound Festival in 2024, held in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
Hydrology: Earth Optimism
Hydrology features underwater recordings of diverse aquatic soundscapes from locations including Mexico’s Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, Norway’s Kvina River, and Queensland’s coastline. Created by Leah Barclay for the Earth Optimism Summit in Washington, DC, the work connects ecological sounds with the voices of water protectors and river communities worldwide.

Listening Underwater – Mooloolaba
Listening Underwater is an audio project featured at the Horizon Festival 2018 that uses GPS-triggered soundscapes to reveal over 100 aquatic acoustic environments along the Sunshine Coast. The sound walks highlight underwater ecosystems from locations worldwide, offering a non-invasive way to engage with changing aquatic habitats and the impacts of climate change.
