The Unyielding Waterland

We arrive in Emmadorp and walk towards the imposing long dike that embraces the Verdronken Land van Saeftinghe like an ancient boundary. Once we reach the top, near Emmahaven, a panorama unfolds that truly reveals the immense scale of this tidal landscape. The horizon seems endless. In the distance, we see a group of walkers

Avian Humanoids

Avian Humanoids, a production by composer, producer, and performer Evelien van den Broek, is a soundwalk that transports you to the world of mythological creatures, uncanny sounds, and musical fantasies. You walk from tree to tree, to five unique trees in Oosterpark, Amsterdam (NL). As soon as you stand beneath them, the tree comes to life, and you hear the rustling of leaves and the fluttering of wings. This isn’t just any park; these aren’t just any trees. Here live the Avian Humanoids. Part human, part bird. In their tree, they begin to sing. As they sit above you and fly around you, you listen to their song.

Five years in the making, A Certain Logic of Expectations is a surprising, intriguing photo narrative of a well-known university-dominated city, created by Mexican photographer Arturo Soto. Mars door Amsterdam

Unwary pedestrians, tram passengers, and motorists look on in surprise when they see a spectacle rolling through the center of Amsterdam. In the “March through Amsterdam” that took place on Friday, December 6, 1963, but the march did not have a demonstrative character; it is nothing more than a formation of six gentlemen who are apparently deliberately following a route.

This project comprises two self-performative sound-walks designed for shopping centers in Luxembourg, specifically Belle Étoile and Auchan, exploring the over-affirmative misuse of commercial spaces. Adaptable versions of these headphone-based pieces have also been created for shopping centers in Bergen, Brussels, Maastricht, and Kortrijk.

The colonial exploitation of capitalism

Back in 2018, I visited the lovely town of Olinda in northern Brazil. It's popular with tourists, mostly Brazilian, and when my wife and I were admiring the town's facades, a man walked from around the corner and started talking to us, assuming we were Brazilian tourists. He was a tour guide and wanted to sell his services, and one of the very first things he said was "Oh, if only the Dutch had stayed, Brazil would be so much better off, today".
