Sounding Art Trail – sharing soundscapes

Mert Hocaoglu and Serra Özhan of sound artists Dystopic Symptoms and Hu Eryurt and Ilgin Tufan of the Cultural Routes Society in Turkey to share their learning from the Sounding Art Trail project. The Sounding Art Trail project is funded through a grant from the British Council’s Connections through Culturefund and is set to raise awareness of climate change, by sharing soundscape recordings along long distance

Portrait of a pilgrimage

I walked 800 kilometres on foot from Istanbul to Konya in Turkey. Along the way I reached out to people I met a handful of cards with quotes by Rumi and asked them to choose one. As a result, an encounter becomes actual contact.

WALKING: THE CYPRUS EXPERIENCE (on Line Seminar/HUB)

Organized by Cut Contemporary Fine Arts Lab and coordinated by Dr. Gabriel Koureas, the International Hub explores the spatial and sensorial impacts of Cyprus’s divided borderlands through walking as an artistic and performative practice. The project investigates how physical and psychic borders, memory, and trauma are embedded in the urban fabric, using embodied encounters with the landscape to understand the interplay of war, politics, and social conditions in Cyprus.
