We welcome back Bob Parks. Bob was one of the pioneers of performance art in England in the 1960s, and on the US West Coast in the 1970s, and eventually has seen his practice evolve into a mixture of performance and walking art, subscribing to the idea that Walking Art is Performance Art on wheels, with the capacity to bring in the whole world's population.

Where Walking Leads
Like most people on this planet, I have been walking my entire life. Having grown up in Los Angeles, I’ve also logged plenty of time in automobiles, but I’ve been in fortunate to live most of my adult life in a famously “walkable city,” Philadelphia, where my feet have become my preferred routine means of getting around, for both utility and pleasure.

This audio walk through downtown Oakland explores the city’s layered migration stories, from the indigenous Ohlone people to the Chinese Diaspora and local community influences. Participants journey from Old Oakland to Lake Merritt, engaging with historical sites, businesses, art, and themes of social justice and resilience.
