It caught me out on Friday, just how hot I was, as I walked streets in Buda - on the western banks of the Danube. Summer had either come early, or the Hungarians had overlooked Spring. Locals told us that the previous Friday had been the first and last day of Spring, and the weather had caught them out too. It makes you quickly appreciate any shade that you can find, even if it means loitering briefly in a doorway, find a gracious tree, or dodging diners as they sit under awnings at cafes and restaurants that have grabbed footway space outside. It always reminds me of Francis Alys' 2005 walking art piece Sunny / Shady, in which he walked across London seeking the shade on the Summer solstice. Budapest is not the most comfortable city for walkers on hot days. Tamsin Grainger has just written a blog piece about 'Budapest on Foot', of which I would recommend a read.

Bright sunshine did give the three of us a chance to stride out in search of a location worthy of a video we needed to make. And here we are, trying to keep in step with former US president Ronald Reagan, however, there was no shade and he seemed to draw a noisy crowd, so it wasn't our best choice. And why the video anyway? These days more and more competitions for funding require applicants to produce a video, in part to explain one's proposal, and in part to see if you are 'tele-visual' or should we now say, 'tiktok-visual'. This video is to win funding and marketing expertise from those who built the Eventbrite platform, and we are proposing a series of events around the world, promoting location-based podcasts, and using the Placecloud.io platform.

Have you tried out Placecloud as yet? We will be adding 'viewpoints' to it through the summer, and would love to have the walk · listen · create community record some of their own.

This coming week, we welcome back performance artist Bob Parks to an online walk · listen · cafe On Cybernetic Capitalism, and Walk-Space have Walk-Space23 an exhibition in Stirchley, Birmingham on "Contours and Crossings in Creative Walking", however, I would love to be in Sydney to experience Nocturne, from theatre-makers one step at a time like this. Do remember, that if you have an event coming up, you can list it on walk · listen · create and when the urge comes, we would love it if you entered our current writing competition on the theme of "Walking A/way".

Keep walking! Best, Andrew
