So long, Sound Walk September. Hello Walktober!

2 Oct, 2022

Thank you; You've submitted about 70 sound walks for the Sound Walk September awards.
The number of walking pieces that have been added to our archives in the previous year has been significantly larger, but as we urge you to submit all walking pieces, not just sound walks, not every submitted piece makes for a submission to awards.

We've had a busy month, with some 50 events organised by the community, you, throughout the world, with, at last, a noticeable shift from the online realm to the physical world.

I, personally, had a lot of fun with 30DaysOfPrompts, in which I was nudged to document 60 aspects of my urban environment throughout September.

Next, we've put together a team of reviewers, an online jury, if you will, who will put together the shortlist. You can visit the page of Sound Walk September 2022 to see who is part of this online jury.
Expect the shortlist to be announced at the start of November.

Meanwhile, we're working on streamlining a number of features of the website. Keep an eye out for lots of subtle, and some not-so-subtle, changes. And give us a shout when you run into a problem.
For one, you will notice that the look and feel of this very newsletter has been updated. I hope you appreciate the changes. And, at least as important, this will be the first newsletter which will also be available on our own website, for everyone to consult, at any time.

And, time moves on; Its history is a bit murky, lost in pre-internet obscurity, but October is Walktober. It appears that this is one of the few good things coming out of the United States, and Go Jauntly, the walking app for everyday outdoor adventures, is nudging you to go on a walk-a-day throughout the month.
You probably should download their app, if it isn't already on your phone.

Let's take a walk!
