The shortlist for Marŝarto24 has arrived
Things are moving fast. It feels like only last month that we announced the shortlist for the SWS24 Awards, and now, already, it's time to tell you about the shortlist for the Marŝarto24 Awards. Not a moment's rest.
This year's shortlist is quite anglo-centric, but we thankfully have some pieces coming from elsewhere; one from Argentina, two from The Netherlands, and one from Switzerland.
The Online Jury did a quite stellar job, and now it's up to the Grand Jury to decide on the winner and honourable mention. You recall that they win cash-in-hand. 500 for the winner, 200 for the honourable mention.
And you recall we're able to offer these prizes because of support from you. If you are not already, please consider becoming a supporter of WLC. It really makes a difference.
Meanwhile, if you happen to hang around on social media, it's been difficult not to notice the slow and steady decline of Twitter. Zuckerberg's Threads, and the somewhat more independent platform BlueSky have benefitted from the exodus from Twitter. However, Threads, like Twitter, strongly manipulates the discourse, while BlueSky is significantly more user-friendly. Inspired by the open web, BlueSky users see much more engagement, and thus, more of a return on social investment.
Mind you, BlueSky is still a monolith, something that the alternative Mastodon is not, but BlueSky is the platform that's benefiting from Musk's abuse and, perhaps, the implosion of the American political system.
Or, at least, we can dream.
We're on both Mastodon and BlueSky. Look us up.
In addition, BlueSky has this nifty feature of 'starter packs', so we've put together a 'starter pack' of walking artists. Perhaps you'd like to follow them. Or let us know if you think you should be on it.
Keep walking!
