Jewish life in Cologne from antiquity to the present: “Köln’s Jewish History” is a performative walk through Cologne’s city center. He gives Jewish life in Cologne a stage for centuries – as an experience that combines theater, video, music and augmented reality.
For over a year, the artistic team of the Young Theater Cologne around director Svetlana Fourer has spotted historical sources and had conversations with historians and contemporary witnesses. The audio walk is based on Jewish sources, such as the writings of the chronicler Salomo bar Simeon, which provide valuable insights into the life of Cologne Jews. The collected memories and contemporary testimonies are woven into a two-part performance with the original locations in today’s Cologne city area.
