Legends in Motion: invisible city

invisible city is a 90-minute immersive walking experience that traces Singapore’s (lost) artistic spaces, surfacing hidden cultural networks and untold stories that shaped the city.

Directed by Sonia Kwek, the tour brings together artists across generations – Stephanie Dogfoot and Siew Guang Hong on 21 Aug; Noor Effendy Ibrahim and Nathanael Ng on 28 Aug; Grace Kalaiselvi and Nurul Atiqah Zaidi on 4 Sep – in a series of performance, movement, storytelling and installation responses that reawaken vanished/ liminal spaces, concluding with Koh Nguang How’s mobile archive on local performance art history.

Inspired by Italo Calvino’s novel ‘Invisible Cities’, this journey invites us to explore our relationship to memory, place and desire.

The Idle walk of the Year

For the Idle Walk of the Year, the Berserk group carried objects from the Ethnological Museum to Amalienborg Square as slowly as possible, while Eric polished the Palace square with petroleum, continuing the museum’s long-standing floor-care tradition.

The Green Line

In the summer of 1995 I performed a walk with a leaking can of blue paint in the city of São Paulo. The walk was then read as a poetic gesture of sorts. In June 2004, I re-enacted that same performance with a leaking can of green paint by tracing a line following the portion of the ‘Green Line’ that runs through the municipality of Jerusalem.

oversupinate

People who jog, run, and sprint have their share of problems that slow-moving people can barely comprehend. One is oversupination. As the OED defines it, to oversupinate is “To run or walk so that the weight falls upon the outer sides of the feet to a greater extent than is necessary, desirable, etc.” A 1990 Runner’s World article gets to the crux of the problem: “It’s hard to ascertain exactly what percentage of the running population oversupinates, but it’s a fraction of the people who think they do.” Credits to Mark Peters.
