Rights-of-way

promotional

I use the city highway as a programme of walking.
I’m going to prepare the route. I try to find my own way. The path that doesn’t exist allows to open space and leave room for the unexpected. In a second step, I propose my route for an audience. The walking becomes collective and participative. We walk together. My proposition can be taken up by everyone. Everyone can discover the juxtaposition of spaces and be attentive to the others. Walking becomes a shared experience.
Together, we create a new proposition of walking from my first route.

Still others engage in a subtler subversion, violating the social norm of rapid, powered transportation to notice what fast travelers miss. WAYS

Choreographing City & Choreographing Walking

"SCHRITTWEISE" by Katja Münker is a performance-intervention, using choreography and walking to engage with city environments and create performative walks. It combines physical performances with an audio-guide and a research toolkit available online. The project aims to establish a collective aesthetic space and invites individuals to interpret and co-create within the provided framework, reaching beyond social and physical boundaries imposed by COVID-19.
