Women who would like to explore an emerging walking arts practice are invited to participate in a 90-minute somatic stroll + reflection (approx 15 mins) with walking artist Tiana Harper. The guided walk will incorporate short Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement©-inspired explorations, invitations to explore the effect of imagination on walking, and opportunities to reflect on the experience through words/photos/sketching/movement. This practice-as-research aims to investigate the effect of the walk in terms of creativity and the effects on embodied self for a PhD supported by York St. John University.
The walk gives participants a chance to discover their embodied responses to a communal stroll to experience selected aspects of Peckham Rye Park and Common. No prior experience of Feldenkrais© or walking arts is required.
The walk is accessible to all women (18+) able to navigate a leisurely park walk. Please contact Tiana with any specific accessibility questions.
Places are limited – please contact Tiana @ tiana.harper@yorksj.ac.uk to register or for further information.
Tiana is a Walking Artist, Senior Lecturer, Guild-registered Feldenkrais© practitioner and PhD candidate at York St. John University.
