Spuren

Spuren is an immersive, participatory performance game set across Frankfurt’s public transport network within the RMV fare zone 1. Conceived by Ben Denke and presented by F°LAB Festival and Frankfurt LAB, the event invites participants to engage in a three-hour citywide pursuit of inconspicuous performers moving through S-Bahn, U-Bahn, tram, and bus lines. Using the Signal messaging app and their RMV ticket, players interpret subtle traces left by the performers as clues to track their elusive paths.

Blurring the boundaries between everyday urban movement and performance, Spuren transforms familiar public transport journeys into a collective, dynamic experience of observation and interpretation. The event foregrounds themes of anonymity, unnoticed human interactions, and invisible connections threading through the city’s shared spaces. Participants are challenged to attune themselves to fleeting signs and gestures, turning the routine act of commuting into an exploratory game of detection and engagement with the urban environment.
