Svampe og jordens undergang

Comments

Svampe og jordens undergang is an interactive walking performance presented by the experimental collective WERK at Sophienholm Kunsthal’s park in Kongens Lyngby. Taking inspiration from anthropologist Anna Tsing’s reflections on ecological collapse, the event invites participants to engage bodily through tasks that channel anger and acts of repair while collectively sensing the surrounding natural environment. The walk navigates the park’s landscape, encouraging attendees to confront feelings of environmental breakdown by expressing frustration and physically mending generated cracks, symbolizing transformation rather than restoration to an original state.

The performance merges elements of movement, theatre, and embodied practice drawn from WERK’s interdisciplinary background in dance, anthropology, and poetics. It emphasizes communal experience and reflection on ecological vulnerability within the context of Sophienholm’s historic garden setting. Conducted primarily outdoors, the event prompts participants to reconsider human-nature relationships through sensory and physical engagement, fostering an ambiguous but potentially hopeful dialogue about environmental futures.
