Join us at the Centre for Urban and Community Research for a lunchtime talk by Morag Rose. Morag Rose is a walking artist, activist and academic. In 2006 she founded a psychogeographical collective, The LRM (Loiterers Resistance Movement), whose manifesto states “our city is wonderful and made for more than shopping. The streets belong to everyone.” http://thelrm.org/
The LRM facilitate free monthly communal wanders across Greater Manchester together with a portfolio of creative walking tours. Morag’s research practice focuses on public space, access and equality in urban environments, intersectional feminism, radical histories and walking as an artistic, political and cultural practice. She has exhibited, published and performed widely and welcomes questions if anyone is interested in learning more.
Morag is also involved with various campaigns that contribute towards making more equal and accessible public spaces, with an urban right to roam. In this presentation Morag will share how walking can be more than pedestrian and be transformed into an artistic, political, community building and radical act. You will meet poets, performance artists and revolutionaries as we wander through creative walking and explore exactly what psychogeography means today.
