Α collection of digitally captured visual elements is made through walking practices. The visual data that are collected are translated into sonic wavetables. Using software synthesizers these wavetables can be played, sequenced and transposed to different pitches. The endpoint is to create audible translations of natural elements, like landscapes and the macro cosmos, of Prespa area.
Wavetable synthesis is fundamentally based on periodic reproduction of any arbitrary, single cycle waveform. Each pixel line from a given digital photo is translated into a single cycle waveform. This process uses FFT algorithms. A fast Fourier transform (FFT) is an algorithm that computes the discrete Fourier transform of a sequence, or its inverse. Fourier analysis converts a signal from its original domain to a representation in the frequency domain and vice versa.
Participants can freely move through the Prespa area and capture visual elements in digital form or though painting practices. If the created elements are in analog form (drawings etc), scanning or photographing them is essential. Participants can freely edit their still pictures using any means necessary. Finally, the transformation process begins creating audible wavetables from the given collection.
