Join us for a WALC Café conversation in two parts. The first half features a 30-minute conversation with multidisciplinary artist Claudia Urrutia Salinas.
Born in Antofagasta, Chile, and now based in France, Claudia’s work moves between performance, theatre, singing, visual arts and artistic transmission. Through poetic actions, symbolic objects, voice and movement, she explores themes of exile, migration, identity, women’s rights and social justice.
In conversation with Sylvie Marchand, Claudia will reflect on how experiences of displacement and re-rooting have shaped her creative practice, and on the role of walking as both a performative act and a way of engaging with landscape, memory and community.
In the second half, the conversation expands to include Fred Adam (France/Spain), Gustavo Alvarez (Mexico), Ridha Dhib (France) and Geert Vermeire, with Annemarie Lopez as participating moderator.
By approaching walking as an artistic gesture, we will explore how artists in motion can connect across geographical distance. What does co-presence at a distance create? What new artistic possibilities might it open?
A conversation about art beyond disciplines, walking as creation, and the power of transmission.

Walking Arts & Local Communities (WALC) is an artistic cooperation project, co-funded by the European Union, Creative Europe, starting in January 2024 for four years. With seven partners from five countries, WALC establishes an International Center for Artistic Research and Practice of Walking Arts, in Prespa, Greece, at the border with Albania and North Macedonia, backed up by an online counterpart in the format of a digital platform for walking arts.
WALC builds on the previous work of hundreds of artists and researchers already practicing Walking Arts as a collaborative medium, and having met at the significant previous walking arts events and encounters in Greece, Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, and during online activities at walk · listen · create.
