A 10-minute ritual of repair responding to a denied pedestrian crossing at the Greek-Turkish border. The performance transforms an administrative wound into a poetic threshold through a physical "suture" and a bilingual GPS soundscape.

Conjuring the Threshold” is a 10-minute performance that symbolically repairs a rupture, an obstructed passage. Through a minimalist and precise gesture, the artist transforms an administrative border into a poetic threshold, questioning the limits on our freedom of movement. This piece was officially presented on July 7, 2025, as part of the Performing Space event in Nafplio, Greece.

The origin of this performance lies in a real experience from July 2, 2022, during the artist’s 5,232 km performative walk, “Ex-tracés”. At the Greek-Turkish border, on the bridge separating Phères from İpsala, he was confronted with a prohibition: the crossing was reserved for motorized vehicles, forcing him to interrupt his walk for 100 meters. This breach in the continuous thread of the walk is the “wound” that the performance seeks to heal, acting as a symbolic reappropriation of the body over a space that was denied to it.

The gesture is embodied in two core elements:

The Border-Line as a Suture: The border is materialized by an 8-meter line of 10 cm wide crepe bandage. Dyed with medical eosin, its bright red color suggests both blood and care. The line is composed of four rolls connected by three knots, representing “visible scars” that emphasize the fragmented nature of territory.

The Soundscape as a Mantra: A cold, digital mantra accompanies the gesture. A synthetic voice slowly recites the GPS coordinates of the border-bridge, first in Turkish, then in Greek.

The performance culminates in a “kairos”: the artist crosses the bandage-line at the precise moment the voice pronounces the central coordinates of the border, creating a perfect convergence of place, time, and the body.
