El paseo de Robert Walser (Robert Walser's walk) is a site-specific walking performance based on Robert Walser’s 1917 novella The Walk.

El paseo de Robert Walser (Robert Walser’s walk) is a site-specific walking performance based on Robert Walser’s 1917 novella The Walk. A small audience follows an actor portraying Walser through the streets of a neighbourhood along a route devised specifically for each city. Fragments of Walser’s text mingle with encounters, urban details and chance events, deliberately blurring the distinction between theatrical fiction and everyday life. The city itself becomes the stage, and walking a means of directing attention towards the ordinarily overlooked.

Robert Walser’s walk falls within what Reinaldo Laddaga calls a “theater of apparition,” a theater composed of essentially fleeting figures who appear only to disappear, who are exhausted in their instantaneous manifestation, and whose destiny, once their trajectories are over, remains undecipherable.

The spectator strolls with Robert Walser and, in this wandering, participates in this theater of incidents that aspires to embellish, for a while, the not always appreciated everyday life.
