I walk to encounter the city, to fill myself with it: my Biarritz, theirs. Could what I am looking for lie in the very movement of walking? The movement of my body, of the city, of water, and the movements that pass through us?

What If Biarritz Were A chorus? Grew out of early-morning walks through Biarritz. I initially imagined making a portrait of a street over the course of a day, or perhaps of a rainy day in the city. Instead, I kept walking-freely, wandering through Biarritz, stopping people to record them, entering places that drew me in and sometimes leaving almost immediately, searching, experiencing and listening.
The piece brings together sound gathered along the way: water, birds, sounds of the city, fragments recorded during an orchestra class at the Conservatoire Maurice Ravel, and voices. It was made without a written script. The choices of where to go, what to record, what to keep and how to edit were largely sensorial, following the pleasure of walking, listening and moving through the city.
