Announcing the winners of SWS25

It’s been an absolute joy to explore this year’s submissions for the Sound Walk September Awards. Speaking on behalf of the Grand Jury, it wasn’t easy to pick which pieces stood out just a tad more in the field that was this year’s shortlist. But, using cold, hard, mathematics, the numbers didn’t lie, and were

Wolverhampton Literature Festival

Wolverhampton Literature Festival was a vibrant annual event celebrating literature, poetry, music, and the arts. In 2020, the festival partnered with OVERHEAR to commission ten local poets to write about ten beloved independent city venues in Wolverhampton. These poems were recorded and virtually “pinned” to their respective locations, allowing festival-goers to discover and collect them

A Spoken Word collection which forms a walking tour of central Oxford, offering a glimpse behind the facade of a city whose name is synonymous with global elitism. Tours are available guided by the artist himself, or online via free maps and YouTube.

Written by multimedia artist Rawz, Forgotten Stories Of Oxford is a Spoken Word collection which comes together to form a walking tour of the heart of his home town.

This Tour is not about the city’s iconic University, or any fictional/political/academic character spawned among its dreaming spires, it’s about the realities of life beneath the illustrious skyline throughout history and in the present day. Each poem is tied to a specific geographic location in central Oxford, and a story that offers a glimpse behind the facade of a city whose very name is synonymous with prestige, exclusivity, and global elitism.

Bespoke tours are available guided by the artist himself, taking in a selection of locations while he performs the connected poetry and tells more about the stories which inspired the pieces. The tour is also available online to enjoy in a “self-guided” format on location in central Oxford, or through a computer screen from wherever you are in the world; using free maps available as a downloadable PDF, or via Google Earth – accessing the poems and accompanying interviews with Rawz on YouTube.
