Seconds.Of.Sound (S.O.S) urges you to dedicate moments to listening.
Accompanying a series of 26 soundwalks between all 45 public libraries in Suffolk, UK from April to October 2024, S.O.S is a collection of recordings from these places, and the paths in between.
S.O.S was created by Martin Scaiff as Environmentalist in Residence for Suffolk Libraries. By finding his Seconds of Sound, Martin hopes to encourage others to find theirs.
As well as the sound walks, the residency delivered listening activities, talks and educational sessions in many Suffolk Libraries. It also created a unique Nature Silent Disco, incorporating live and pre-recorded sound, as well as biosonification, to engage public audiences with their acoustic habitats.
The residency was generously supported by Arts Council England.
Martin Scaiff is the creator of the HomeSounds project, which invites everyone, particularly young people, to become Active Environmental Listeners for the benefit of their creativity, education, health and wellbeing.
