I’ve been working with SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) children from Little Hulton, Salford, to make simple melodies using stickers and paper. We then arranged these melodies around Peel Park in Little Hulton as an Echoes soundwalk. The soundwalk was presented as part of the Spirit of Little Hulton festival. I used a doorframe as a “portal” into the walk. This effect was achieved by hanging QR codes to the walk from the doorframe as well as windchimes with QRs around the park. The SEND children loved this experience as they were both making the melodies and choosing where they would like to place them around their local park. The walk become something of a treasure hunt as people were trying to find each other’s melodies!
