This work seeks to re-map place in a decolonising way, responding to the more-than-human.

Wagirra (Walk), 2023
5 fabric worksheets 30cm x 35cm each
Salvaged fabric, thread, eco dyes, found objects, feathers, knitting needles, clipboards

These observation worksheets re-imagine the collecting of information regarding birding visits to Drayton’s Valley Reserve near Rylstone, NSW, Australia. I was asked to record bird species at this culturally significant place for the North East Wiradjuri Company. Learning from my First Nations guide as we walked, I collected botanicals to dye colours of Country in the fabric and stitched my foot-fall using the eBird app.
The stitch shape shows the route, black line the road, rectangle – date, month, kilometres, hours.
