DELIRIUM AMBULATORIUM

Hélio Oiticica’s Delirium Ambulatorium explores urban wandering as a creative practice, a “to-and-from” movement without linearity, where walking through the city feeds the mind, transforms urban space into a playground, and allows new artistic ideas to emerge through sensory, bodily, and chance encounters.

Touch

In Touch, Janine Antoni walks a tightrope on the beach of her childhood home, creating the illusion of walking on water. The work explores balance, perfection, and connection with viewers, inviting reflection on hope, the horizon, and human striving.

33 Days West

33 Days West is a series of photocopies from Foster Spragge’s original walking drawings. Each vertical strip represents a day’s walk, marking compass positions every 30 minutes, while the originals were mailed in nine envelopes from different stages of the walk.

In Walking Drawing, Marioni attaches colored pencils to his waist and walks along a long paper, creating wavy, overlapping lines that transform simple movement into a performance-based drawing.

According to Ellen Mueller’s website, on a long piece of paper attached to the wall at Marioni’s walking height, he created multiple lines by attaching colored pencils to his waist and walking along the length of the paper. This process resulted in wavy, layered lines.

Walking Drawing exemplifies Tom Marioni’s long-standing interest in merging drawing with performance. In this work, Marioni uses the simple act of walking as a mark-making process, transforming movement through space into a visual record. The drawing emerges through his repeated path along the wall, allowing the line to accumulate over time as both a physical trace and a documentation of duration.
